Best Approachs to Study for FINRA Series Qualification Exams:
- Read the text prior to taking any practice exams.
- Be an active reader by checking off or underlining important points and definitions.
- Practice exams should be taken in Question & Answer format: after completing the reading.
- Read each question at least twice, make the best choice, and then read the explanation for immediate feedback.
- After completing all of the practice exams in Q & A, take the exams again.
- If you are unable to complete all of the practice exams, read the explanations of those exams to access the important test points.
Information about FINRA Series License Exams:
Test Outlines are Public Information. Regulators publish what topics are covered on the test at www.FINRA.org. FINRA exams are reading comprehension tests. It is important to choose study material that makes the information accessible. The best study guides in the industry are published by PassPerfect.
Information Emphasis: Focus on the information most likely seen on the actual exam. The number of test questions per category is found in the preface of your study guide. On our home page, you can find links to FINRA's web site with the complete test outline of each exam that we teach. The breakdown of the number of questions can be found there. Effective in November of 2011, regulators reduced the number of Series 7 questions on muni bonds and options, but added test questions regarding customer accounts, regulation, and trading and market-making. Also, the passing grade for the Series 7 exam was raised to 72% from 70%.
Time Management: Preparation time for self-study is from 40 to 80 hours for the Series 7 Securities License exam. Please plan sufficient time within your schedule.
